Welcome to Rose's Place Hello, Everyone! In case you want to know, here is a little bit about me and my new alter ego, Rose Paisley - yeah, I am hiding. *sigh*... I grew up in a small country town in the Amish Country of Mifflin County, PA. I worked as an electronics technician building speakers, drove truck, worked as a waitress, and then moved to Harrisburg, went to college at 40+ and got a degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology. I met my husband, Steve while at school at Harrisburg Area Community College, and I am SO glad. We also transferred, attended, and graduated from the Harrisburg Campus of Penn State University, GO Joe Pa, GO LIONS! *snicker* Steve has been and remains so supportive of me and my endeavours, and I am forever grateful. Between him, his dad, and his brother and sister and their families, they have filled a really huge void in my life. Yup, I am lucky to be surrounded with such love and have such a very special family to call mine! I also own and publish an online Magazine called Romance at Heart Magazine, and a very small publishing company that puts out about 12 ebooks a year for selected authors called Romance At Heart Publications. My book, A Wild Love: Escape has been published by the wonderful folks at Lavender Isis Press, and can be found at their bookstore at http://www.lavenderisis.com/, so stop by and take a walk on the wild side with me and my sexy shifter. As to the more books...well, that is yet to be seen, but I do have a few ideas in the works. Now if only I can find time to finish a few... I really appreciate you stopping by. I also hope you find lots of stuff here you can enjoy. Sincerely, P. S. Here is some Contact Information: |

Some questions and answers... I am doing this because someone out there may want to know the answers to a few basic questions about me, and about my latest adventure, that of being published. I have to tell you I am not comfortable with being in any kind of spotlight, I love being in the background, doing what I do and shining the light on any and all authors who have delighted me with their books. I have recently taken a dare, and that resulted in a short story being published by Lavender Isis Press. Below I have tried to give you some answers to some questions you may want the answers to about me. - About my latest book: It is my first book, and called Wild Love. It is about a shapeshifter named Hajj whose people and kind have been persecuted almost to extinction. He went to his island, his refuge in hopes maybe others would find him by way of rumour of the haunted island. Hajj almost gave up and prefers his cat form to his human one. He roams widely, and eventually finds his home there has been appropriated by a cruel and greedy human male who unwittingly has "bought" a part-shifter female. Hajj cannot stand to see her suffer, and as he learns her story, he is determined to help her escape... - Why did I decide to write romance novels? I didn't decide. I was fooling around, playing with stuff and submitted the story on a dare from two dear friends and authors. I am not a writer, nope, I think this just could be a strange and twisted fluke. A cosmic joke if you will. - What do I do to relax and recharge my batteries? I read. I LOVE to read, and can't seem to keep enough new material in stock. Unfortunately, I have little time any more, so I have to steal moments when I can... - Do I have a favorite author? Favorite book? NO, I have too many favourites to count, and can't possibly pick only one. As for favourite books, I have read numerous books literally till the covers fell off. Some were very hard to replace too. - Who are some of my favorite authors to read? I can give you a short list: Christine Feehan, Catherine Spangler, Susan Squires, Bonnie Vanak, Ronda Thompson, Susan Grant, Katherine Deauville, Jane Dawkins, Steven King, Dean Koontz, O. Henry, Zane Grey, Michael Chriton, Jean Auel, David Gemmel, Anne MacCaffery, Sherrilyn Kenyon... - What do I think of critique groups in general? I don't belong to any formal group or organization, but I am leery of critique groups in general. There are some good ones I think, but some have those divas who will cut down anything written by anyone else, and that is not helpful. I guess the closest I have to a crit group is two very good friends and authors who help me. I try to help them as well. - How long have I been writing - have I always wanted to be a writer? LOL I have been writing reviews for HeartStrings, then for Romance at Heart Magazine for over three years. That is the extent of my writing until the dare. If you mean books, well, as I said, that was done and is probably a total fluke...lol I commend the gals at Lavender Isis Press for taking a chance on my short story. Of course th short story was years in the making, beccause I get bored, not because I am meticulous! lol I have a hard time putting words together that are not reviews... - What is the hardest part of writing/the easiest? It is all hard for me. I find nothing easy about writing books, and have great respect for my friends like Christine, Cathy, Ronda, Squires, Susan, Bonnie, and the rest who so consistently put out such great reads. They are so talented. I have my own handicap being very dyslexic, and I have little concentration, no plotting ability, and even less real desire. I know, not the best qualities for a writer, but then I never professed to be one. I just play one once in a while, then I get totally bored and it goes no further. A Wild Love: Escape seems to be the exception so far. That said, I do LOVE to write reviews, and love the reading it takes to do them...That kind of writing is easy for me. - Generally, how long does it take me to write a book? Well, this is a loaded question, because Hajj's story started as an example for a contest entry, and that was three years ago. I have trouble putting more than one or two thousand words together, thus the problem...a real book? LMAO, dunno about that one truly. - Where do my ideas come from? The "stories" I play with come mostly from my dreams. Some of them are spurred by music, books I read, etc. I think the most words I have ever completed in my life was a fan fiction of about 35K...and even that was more than 6 months in the making and a WHOLE LOT of prodding from friends. - What does my husband think of your writing? He thinks I have totally lost my mind, and has to laugh at my frustration! Other than that, he loves me and is totally supportive, lending his shoulder when I need a good cry, or his chest when I need something to beat on. I couldn't do this otherwise in spite of my dear friends support. He is my rock. I have a MySpace page in progress...
